General Question on C++ and ODBC

Hi Experts,

We are evaluating a software package, which does data mapping and migration between two data sources, say text file as the data source and SQL server as the data target.  Nothing special here, just moving data from the source to the target.

The vendor told us that there are three components, ODBC database interface (written in C++), ADO database connection (VB) and UI (VB).  We do not understand why there is an ODBC component since Microsoft provides the standard ODBC component.  I'd appreciate it if anyone of you could give some thoughts on this.  Thanks.
