How to fix partition table error

metalaureate asked
Last Modified: 2011-08-18
An old latop I was re-building with XP (a Dell Inspiron 4000) went to sleep while I was using Partition Magic 7.0 to create some new partitions and did not recover properly. The OS was completely destroyed.

I re-installed the OS and ran Parition Magic again, this time it could not initialize C:. Erro 108. In Partition Info, I found an error reported: something along the lines of parition does not end on a cylinder, something called a Geometry error. The Help recommended running Patition Magic in floppy boot mode, which I did. This program just notified me that the partition is Bad (even though Scan Disk and Norton Disk Doctor claimed it was ok in XP), and only gives me the option of Formatting. I don't know if that will fix the problem or not.

What can I do to fix the problem?
