Name resolution problem

I am having problems contacting some internet sites. One is support.microsoft.com which I know should be there !

I can't view them in IE ( I get 'site not found' errors, or another message that I think is coming from our own hosted web server )

When I try to ping them I get this sequence: ( I don't really expect a reply to the ping, but it shows the IP it is trying to contact)

PING support.microsoft.com
pinging support.microsoft.com.mycompany.com [212.67.xx.xx] ...  this is the IP address for our own website on an internet host
REPLY FROM 212.67.xx.xx

However when I ping other similar sites (which work in IE) I get:
PING www.microsoft.com
pinging www2.microsoft.akadns,net [207.46.xx.xx] ...
Request timed out

I get similar behaviour from the NSLOOKUP program.

I suspect something is not working on our DNS servers but am not sure what !
