Hello,

Could someone please explain exactly what NAT does? I understand it to be that it turns real IPs into private IPs. However, explain this if you could.

I have a firewall which has two NICs. The first one has a real IP on eth0, private IP on eth1, and private IP on eth1:0. The first private IP is for the DMZ, and the second internal access.

This firewall NATs everything that comes from the internal lan network, and is not destine for the DMZ network.

Can someone please explain this concept?

Thanks.
