DNS Problem

Hi,

I have a Windows 2000 Server which is a DC and also the DNS and DHCP Server for a secondary test network.

I am having a problem because i have the clients (which are VMWare Images) connect to the network using DHCP, they are assigned all the information correctly, but there is an issue with the AD Integrated DNS, the DNS Reverse Lookup is Dynamically Updated fine but the Forward Zone does not work.

The domain is called: 'Xxx_Test' (no .com etc) the DHCP server is set to force the client to register/update, but it will not. Some of the images are not in the domain but say on a Workgroup named Workgroup.

I guess i'm having a slow day, but do the clients need to be in the Domain?
Even the ones that are do not always update though.

Thanks.
