Cellphone programming

I'm building an appilcation for a cellphone that uses MIDP 2.0 and CDLC 1.0 (probably p900). I want two different clients to connect to a server (Tomcat servlet). Since one of the phones should be in my car and I want to be able to connect to it (preferrably directly from the other client, but through the server is OK) without the having to keep the connection open. Because that will result in a pretty steep cellphone bill.. Can you listen for a connection from the server or is there some other way to keep the connection open?

P.S. Does anyone know if you can turn off having to click ok, when sending sms-messages through a java-app?
