Counting records in specific date range

In my DB the date is stored as 75,111 for example. I need to use the formula {@DATEOFACTIVITY} which is "if {DATEOFACTIVITY} > 0 then Date (1800,12 ,28 ) + {DATEOFACTIVITY}" to convert it.

Now what I am trying to do is count the number of {Activity} in a specific date range. If i try using the formula "If {@DATEOFACTIVITY} in Calendar1stQtr then distinctcount({Activity.IDNUMBER})" it counts all the activities in the year, not just in the 1st qtr.

any help would be appreicated.  Thanks
