D-Link DVC-1000 i2eye Video Conferencing Problem. Unable to establish a connection on one end, long ringing on the other.
Hi All,
My company just got the DVC-1000 and we are having major problems.
My current configuration is Internet > Cisco Router (from ISP) > 8 Port Switch > DVC-1000.
DVC-1000 is statically assigned to...
IP: 10.0.0.5
Sub: 255.255.255.0
GW: 10.0.0.1
DNS1: DNS1 of my ISP (Can't recall exactly what the IP was)
DNS2: DNS2 of my ISP
Automatically detect Public IP.
I asked my ISP to port forward the ports (TCP and UDP 15238-15333, TCP 1720) on the Cisco Router to 10.0.0.5. It seems like it is setup properly...
I have no clue how the other office is setup, but the situation is that when they dial our unit they say that it just rings constantly. When we dial them, it rings for like 10secs then we get an "Unable to establish connection". When I dial in to the D-Link test units I can connect to them.
I checked the option to answer calls automatically in the settings, but I still doesn't pick up when the other party dials.
If the other location doesn't have their incoming correctly setup, would they still be able to reach us?
Any ideas on what steps I should take next?
Thanks for the help.

Most likely it's the port issue. Be sure your ISP verifies the open ports. It's just 15328-15333 but same diff.
Are you sure that's the right subnet. Usually a 10.x.x.x IP requires a subnet of 255.0.0.0.
You could also try a firmware upgrade.
Step 1 From the Home screen on the unit, select Settings and then select Update.
Step 2 Select Check Now. You will be prompted if there is an update available or not.
Step 3 Click Yes to Restart.
Dlink also has test units available to dial into so you can isolate your issue. Be sure each of you try the test.

Thanks for your suggestions, but somehow it still doesn't work.
I checked the subnet and it is 255.255.255.0
The firmware is also the latest already.
Both me and the other location can dial to the test units and connect. But we cannot dial to each other. Whenever I dial I get an "Unable to establish connection" and whenever they dial to me it just rings, like no one is picking up. I checked my unit and have already enabled answer all incoming calls.
I called my ISP Allstream and they confirmed they have the correct ports forwarded. Is there anything else they need to do besides forwarding?
If the ports aren't forwarded correctly, would it prevent the unit from dialing out to others?
Thanks for the help!

That is peculiar.
Is 255.255.255.0 the same subnet that your computer uses?
How is the remote computer trying to connect, by IP address?
What IP address are they connecting to, I hope not 10.0.0.5?
AND...if you can connect to the test machine but not the remote machine, there may be a problem on the other end as well.
The port forwarding should not effect outbound calls.
Can others connect to their machine? Are they using Private IP address or Auto detect Public IP as well.

Yes it is odd indeed.
The D-Link conferencing device is a standalone device connected to one of the TVs.
The ISP Cisco Router is connected to a switch. The gateway for the network is 10.0.0.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0.
The D-Link device is connected to the switch with IP address 10.0.0.5, subnet of 255.255.255.0 and gateway of 10.0.0.1. A Linksys Router for our internal LAN is also connected to the switch on 10.0.0.10, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 10.0.0.1. The switch also has other devices connected...
The remote D-Link conferencing device is connecting to us using an IP address. We have a static IP and I have given them our public IP 216.191.x.x (I can email u the IP if you need it), they do not know about 10.0.0.5. They also gave us their public IP at that time (it's dynamic) but i tried and got the "unable to establish connection".
I connected to the test devices successfully at D-Link using the # (1-714-885-1212) rather than the IP.
We do not know anyone else that has a D-Link DVC-1000 so we can't check if others can connect or not. Both of us are using Auto Detect Puclic IP.

The term broadband commonly refers to high-speed Internet access that is always on and faster than the traditional dial-up access. Broadband includes several high-speed transmission technologies such as digital subscriber line (DSL), cable, fiber optics, wireless (for which there is a separate topic), satellite and broadband over powerlines (BPL).
