pop3 error Unable to copy mail spool file

I am using a third party (mapilab Nativepop3connector) to get emails from an ISP supported pop3 mail server.
I am getting the following error message in the vendors log file and have been told by their supprt team that this is a pop3 error.
07/06/04 12:52:53: CONN; response: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] Unable to copy mail spool file, quota exceeded (69), error: 0xB7
I have done the search on Microsoft without success and placed requests for help on various newsgroups.

Is there anyone here that may have a solution.

Regards, Major.

The only thing i can get out of here is the >>quota exceeded (69), <<. Is your harddrive full?? Do you use Outlook or Outlook Express and what version??

Sorry should have mentioned that there are no quota limits set either in Exchange or on the server disks.
The disks have GBytes of space.
Client is Outlook 2003.
Server is Exchange 2003. I have SP1 ready to install but have not done so yet.
Server is 2003 and has latest fixes installed.

How do receive the e-mails?? Are they being send to the mailserver?? Do the suers connect to the mailserver using POP3?? If they pcik up their mail, is their mailbox empty or does Exchange leave a copy in the mailbox??

The emails are hosted on the ISP pop3 server. I can access them via a web site or a pop3 client.
I am running exchange server so I can keep my exchange skills current.
The pop3 connector connects to the ISP pop3 server and downloads the emails and if successful deletes them from the pop3 server.

At the moment, as there is an error on the download, the emails are being kept on the pop3 server.

Hi,

Try to do a telnet to the pop3 server using port 110, like  telnet [pop3.domain.com] 110. This should give you a reply from the server. If this isn't the case, then i do believe your isp has a problem. Second, if you have a mailserver, why don't you use it. It will give you loads of advantages, and you allready paid the big bucks to use it....

The telnet worked fine.

The mailserver is inside our double firewall system and does not have an external Internet address.

I chose pop3 feeder for this email system as I am planning another server whichi will be available on the Internet and will act as a mailserver frontend. That work is no where near ready to resolve this problem.

The pop3 feeder system was working perfectly ok until a few days ago.
There were no changes to the system at the time and no event log entries round that time.

I have received confirmation from mapilab tech support that all of the text of the error message
"-ERR [SYS/TEMP] Unable to copy mail spool file, quota exceeded"
is returned from the exchange pop3 server

Hi,

You can do a NAT for the mailserver. Let your mail be delivered ot the allready existing external ip address and make sure that all traffic for port 25 is NAT'ed to the internal ip address of the mailserver, then you should bve able to receive mail...

This sounds a bit korny, but did you install te latest hotfixs and stuff from the Windows Update?? (i don't beleive i have to ask if you rebooted the workstation???). And if you recreate the pop3 account in Outlook 2003??? If you do this, you'd best make a back-up of the *.pst file, in case something goes awire..

In understand about using NAT to allow traffic through the firewalls. I am already using it to allow web traffic through to the server that will eventually be the exchange front end. It is my understanding that for SMTP I will have to request for MX records to be set up by my ISP to get the mail forwarded. If I do that I may loose my option of accessing my emails via their web site from anywhere (including from a cusomers office). I realise that I could make my exchange server visible to myself via OWA but do not wish to do that (yet).

The server 2003 enterprise in patched to latest level.

I am going to assume that this problem is purely an exchange 2003 one and apply the latest exchange SP and fixes and see if that resolves it.
