re-receiving messages already downloaded

I don't know why this happens but sometimes my Outlook will do a send/receive and start downloading messages that are already in the folder.  I keep all the messages on the server for a number of days since I have a number of computers checking those e-mail addresses, but as of current it only seems to happen on one e-mail address.

I am using Outlook 2002 SP3.  I've found various utilities out there to get rid of the duplicate messages but I'd like to stop the problem before it starts anymore.

Is that one email address type different from other email address or in other words do you use POP3 or IMAP for that one email address which is giving this issue compared to other email addresses ?

If you are using POP3, is there any change if you say leave messages on server as apposed to unchecking that option ?

Have you tried to recreate the email account by first deleting it and then creating it again and does it show any difference ?

they're all POP3... I'm having it leave all the messages on the server...and yes.. I've tried that... I don't have a problem on the computers using Outlook 2000 to get the messages.. just with Outlook 2002

Have you updated your outlook 2002 with all the latest updates.
If not , go to officeupdate.microsoft.com and get the updates.

Check if the update would help

Other than that I guess creating a new profile would be the solution
