Outlook 2000 Cannot fetch new headers

I am trying to use Outlook 2000 to retrieve my e-mail from school.  The school uses IMAP instead of POP.

When I go to the site and retrieve my e-mails, I have no problem.  However, when I use Outlook 2000, I get the following message.

“Cannot fetch new headers in the inbox for xxxx.edu.  The inbox for this account could not be opened.  The IMAP server may not contain your Inbox or the local cache may be out of date.”

I would appreciate any workable solution.

Try these

a) Go to outlook's help menu and do a "Detect and repair". Check if that would help solve this issue

b) If not , then delete that email account and create it again. Before creating , check with your school IS dept,
if the incoming imap server that you are giving is correct. Increase the timeouts and see if that would help

c) Check with other friends if their outlook can get the emails. I am not sure if you were previously able to retrieve email in outlook or this is the first time you are trying.

Post back if the above would help

a) Went to help menu, "detect and repair" didn't help solve this issue.

b) Deleted e-mail account and created it again. Incoming imap server is correct. Increased the timeouts and didn't help.  Got the same error message.

c) Checked with friends and their outlook can get the e-mails. This is the first time I am trying.

Went to the internet and found where it said that I needed a new dll.  Do you know if this is true??
However, I couldn't find a file that I could download.

Try d/l it from here
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?pstprx32

if you have a browser that has a pop-up blocker , disable the pop-up blocker as the above page might give a pop-up when you attempt to download
after downloading it , register the DLL and restart outlook to see if that would help

To register : Start --> run --> Regsvr32 pstprx32.dll

Disabled the pop-up blocker.  When I tried to download, got the following error.

I have tried a few time, but always the same problem.

I have no problems with that.  I believe it is fair.

Thanks.
