I have a Win 2000 machine and there are a lot of bad things happening.  First, there are many copies of icons on the desktop for the same programs.  It made several copies of different programs.  Second, with caps lock off your text is UPPER case and with caps lock on you text is lower case.  Third, when you try to select a program on the desktop it acts as though you are holding shift down because it selects everything from the first to where you click.  It also does this in Windows Explorer.  Finally, I can't run Windows update.  It gives a Java error when it trys to scan the computer.  I have sp4 on there and a current copy of norton.  Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

No I haven't tried that.  It seems as though the mouse isn't right as well but I will try that.

SheharyaarSaahil, I think that did it.  The right shift key was "active" causing my problems.  I am glad that it was that and not what I was thinking that it was.

Thanks again.
