Hi,

I want to disconnect and reconnect the Sharepoint with the SQL Server. Infact, want to disconnect from the local Sql Server and reconnect to a remote SQL Server. How can I do it?

As the question is urgent.. I am issuing 500 globes for it...

Thanks,

Khurram.

I would try this .
if you want to preserve the current data.
backup the sql database using the maintenance task in sql. then restore that backup to the new sql server.
if you simply want to change sharepoint .
On the Server Administration page, under Virtual Servers, click Administration  next to the virtual server you want to modify.
Under Administration, click Change database connection.
Do one of the following:   To specify the SQL Server database to use
In the Database server name box, type the server name that the SQL Server database is on.
In the Database name box, type the name to use for the database, if necessary.
In the Database administrator user name box, type the administrator name for the database.
In the Database administrator password box, type the administrator password.

Well,

I have already tried this and it wasn't disconnecting due to some errors... i went before them and found that there was error in SQL Server name_collisions... So according to MS I have to reinstall it. So I have done it and its fine now...

As your suggesion was in the right direction, I am issuing you the points...

Cheers...

Khurram.
