Hi Experts, My coworker has a DeskJet 1220c hooked up to his HP laptop with Win XP home.  It works great except that every now and then it will randomly print one page. It always prints just a y with a sideways : on top, in one corner of the page and that is it.  It does not have regular schedule but it will do it about 4 or 5 times in one afternoon.

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

I apologize in advance for not answering quickly as I can only access the internet about once a day right now!
Thanks a lot, Jake

Have you tried to reinstall the drivers for that printer ? Make sure you have got the latest drivers ..

Unless there is something coming from the computer , I donot believe the printer can print something on its own.
Have you tried to hook that printer to a different machine to see if the same thing happens ?

Try to remove the printer from start --> printers and faxes and create  a new icon to see if that would help
