"WRONG MACHINE" message when installing Xp Recovery disk on new HDD on Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100...DMI Problem??

PC: Laptop Toshiba Satellite pro series 6100, two years old
OS: Xp

It appears that my HDD suffered bad (hard failured) sector failure, and I am now in the process of replacing the HDD.
I purchased a Toshiba HDD compatible to my oldone, (60G, 5400rpm, 12ms) however when I installed the new HDD, and try
to load the recovery disk, this message pop up...WRONG MACHINE...I called Toshiba, which indicated that was the DMI.

Does anyone outhere know what this DMI is, and how to bypass this monopoly control, which does not allow me to load the Xp recovery disk. Is this a B. Gates Xp control scheme  or is this Toshiba service control scheme

you need to sign up to this forum and find jim f he will message the Private message the answer

It a problem with all toshiba laptops everytime you change hardware it puts this message up Toshiba error.

He will sort your problem by sending a utility

sorry you have to log on to this forum and post onto the laptop board the exact model and he will send a link to the file this is tyhe only free way to do it. otherwise send to an authorised toshiba dealer and pay the money

jim f i s the senior sysop for the laptop forum on this board just post a message saying wromg machine in the title and he will message you if you search on the forum for wrong machine it comes up with lots of entries all answered.

Post and he will come.
