i get this error- could not perform end of Disc at once

I have nero and a matshita dvd- drive. It burns fine apart from when i try to burn this particular homemade movie and then i get the error "could not perform end of Disc at once" this error comes right at the end of the burning process and basically i think it just doesnt finalise the dvd, but this means that i cannot play it on my dvd player.

It is odd as it only happens on this particular movie i am trying to burn.. any help would be appreciated.

when you burn the dvd, you can specify options

Disc at once
Disc at once/96
track at once

try switching which one you are using.

how big is the movie ?

is there anything that makes it unusual ?

I have authored the movie so it is in AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders, the whole thing is about 4.2 gig. If i change it from disc at once will that be ok??
hmm.  Hang on for a second.  Do you have anything in the AUDIO_TS directory ?  Normally everything just goes in VIDEO_TS.  Let's take a step back - where is this movie coming from ?

No nothing is in the audio directory, i was just stating what i have in the folder sorry.

If i do track at once, do you think that it will mess up?
are these VOBs ?

it may not let you do track at once.  Try DAO/96.

Yes they are VOBs
are there IFOs and other stuff with the VOBs ?  Are you using DVD-VIDEO ?

Avatar of meclive

ASKER

Yes there are IFO, BUP, VOB and in nero i am choosing DVD-VIDEO.

Also for some reason it will not let me change the write method of "disk at once" in nero, it is all greyed out when i choose dvd-video.

Hmm ive just done a nero simulation and that went ok, which is odd because i havnt changed anything... The dvd-r is 4.7gb and the movie i am trying to burn is 4.4gb so there shouldnt be any problem there... im stumped....
Are there any of the following:

Updates for Nero you haven't applied
Firmware upgrade for your burner

what nero version is this ?
hmmm
are you burning at a high speed on cheap media ?

Its nero version 5.5.10.35, Im sure there are probably firmware upgrades available but it works burning my other movies.

Im burning at 2x (which is my dvd drives max speed) on Datawrite 4x disks (which i have used before without a problem).

It just seems odd that its only happening on this one film... and the simulations in nero work ok... very odd.

So how can i change the write method in nero if its greyed out?
you won't be able to.  I'd get the newest nero first, and see if it helps.

Very strange, just ran through a simulation, which was ok, then tried burning again and it worked fine?? maybe came accross a few bad disks??? thanks for your help anyway
Usually if the simulation works, the burning works.  It probably was the media.

Just a comment.  I get that error only occasionally using Nero Express 6.6 but find that the disk burned just fine and is fully playable.  I did notice that I had not checked "Enable DVD overburning" in the Configuration preferences.  Will be a while before I find out if that helped as this error is an occasional one.
