I have to write a report on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and how it works. Also how it compares when the Just In Time (JIT) Compiler is used. I have found information on the JVM but I am havig a touch time finding much good information on the JIT Compiler. I know what the JIT is, and what it does, but dont really know how it works.<br />

If anyone can refer me to any resources (books or websites) I can look at to do the research for my report, I would appreciate it.<br />

JVM and JIT

Java is a platform-independent, object-oriented programming language and run-time environment, designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible such that developers can write one set of code across all platforms using libraries. Most devices will not run Java natively, and require a run-time component to be installed in order to execute a Java program.
