How to auto-format phone numbers Outlook 2003
I can't find the setting that will allow me to key in the 10-character phone number, and have it formatted as a phone number. Easy one.

Unfortunately, it doesn't autoformat the phone numbers. If I key in 12224445555 in, that's how it shows. If I right-click, I can then key in my country, code etc, but it doesn't do it as a default.

Outlook should automaticlly format phone numbers, unless if you're using Outlook97, and you are stuck with what you have.
But starting with Outlook 2000, the autoformattting should work.
Try recreating the dialing properties location by going to your phone and modem options:
1. Remove all the existing dialing properties locations by clicking REMOVE, in the "I am dialing from" section.
2. Click NEW, re-enter you country/region and area code and then hit OK.

Thanks a ton; you got me on the right track. The exact sequence is open contacts select Actions, then "Call contact", then "new call", then hit the "Dialing Options" button, then toggle on the "Automatically add country code to local phone numbers." TA DA. It was in the help, I just wasn't searching properly. Thanks for your efforts. This is a neat site.
