preparing to initialize disk results in failure

I am in OS 9.2.  my cd burner burned fine for five disks in a row. It froze while initializing. then, in inserting any CD-R disk, when I click to prepare for initialization, a dialogue box says that it cannot initialize as start up or another disk is full.

How much free space do you have on your HD? If it's less than about 1gb, clear some space.

The thing that does not make sense is that I was burning disks fine until it froze while trying to load a document onto the disk before burning.

My internal memory (going into apple to check ) is  384 MB.  What else can I c heck re memory?

Late breaking news!  I removed about 1.3 GB from hard drive and now the disk was accepted.  I think you have solved the problem, Weed. Now, I need to solve my interrelated problem of correctly formatting data to be burned so that my PC will read it and I can load it into my new system. I had send you another question on this earlier today.

Muchas gracias.

For that you just need to burn the CD as a hybrid or ISO9660.

I do not know what you are talking about. I am not aware of options on how to burn a CD. Please elaborate.

OS 9.2 should burn an ISO 9660 by default, but otherwise, in Toast, choose the Data tab and select Mac & PC or if using the Advanced options, ISO 9660.
