I have installed a driver for the above onboard sound (win98se) and all works well except I get the following error on start up.

"The creative ensoniq audio pci driver cannot load midi waveset. Midi playback has been disabled".

There are no errors in device manager..

How can I either solve the problem or disable the message?

"Your driver did not come with MIDI waveset files, and that is the cause =
of the midi error.  You cannot play MIDI file types without a waveset.

You need to download a wavetable file (waveset) and put it in =
Windows\System folder.  It may also be necessary to point to it through =
the configuration sheet for Midi wavetable, in Control Panel> =
Multimedia.  You can get 2MB, 4MB or 8MB waveset files here (they have =
.ecw extensions).  The 2MB wavetable file should be sufficient: =
eapci2m.ecw=20

This location to download the waveset file is found by going here
http://asia.creative.com/support/drivers/
and scrolling down in the search lists to get files for "Creative =
Ensoniq AudioPCI' for the operating system in question....I assume =
Win98. =20

Once the waveset is in place, you will no longer get an error, and you =
will be able to play MIDI files."

I ran into the same issue but found that the correct place to change the waveset setting was actually in control panel under:

System-> Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI -> Settings

I was able to set the waveset there for Windows 98SE.
