Hi,

When adding members to a distribution group in Windows 2000 server, is it possible to make it search for matching user accounts by surname rather than first name?

I have a big list of names to add to a group and i only have their first initials and surname so searching by surname would be much easier.

Many thanks,

Robert

You can't search by surname for adding member to a DG.  You can save some time by using partial names in your membership list though.  When adding users (let's say smith and jones) you could just type sm;jo; in the members box ( where it says: << Type names separated by semicolons or choose from list >>) and click on check names and it will give you all of the accounts matching a parital.
