Hi experts,
I have a strange problem. I am getting the following error when updating the database:

Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80040e09'
Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
/adminnew/algSiteSave.asp, line 48

The database and update page etc. is on a server, with a hosting company.

When I try to update I do NOT get this message. It updates fine. But when a friend of mine tries it at another location, the error shown above appears. We tried cache etc. but that is not it??

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanx

sounds like the hosting company has a misconfiguration...

not sure about asp but in coldfusion there's a "maintain persistent connections" option in the ODBC setup which you can turn off to avoid this kind of error...

It is the server permission thing set the appropriate permission to the folder where database is kept for that folder you just have the read permission not the write permission thats why you cant update the db
