Apache configuration: how to configure Apache to auto recognise http://localhost/myfile as http://localhost/myfile.php

Hi Experts,

Is it possible to configure apache to recognise the following:
http://localhost/myfile as http://localhost/myfile.php
or
http://localhost/myhtml as http://localhost/myhtml.html

If yes, how to configure apache to support such functionality?

Thank you
