hi,

normally if you choose in the library painter your pbls you can select as many as you want of your objects and regenerate them at once.

but due to the inheritance, i cannot select all pbl and regenerate at one time. I have to regenerate the ancestor object before the descendant objects. And there are around 30 pbl in the application, so that every time when build the application i have to follow the sequence and regenerate one by one carefully. Sometimes problem might occur if miss one pbl.

Sorry, there is no way to do this in PB!

Check out a product called PowerGen (http://www.ecrane.com/powergen1.htm).

You can't tell it what order to regenerate things in; it examines all objects in your application and automatically regenerates them in the correct ancestry order.

Its main function in life it to automate the compilation process, but we used to set it up for a nightly regenerate-only run to make sure all ancestor / descendant objects were still valid (i.e. we didn't screw up an ancestor and break a descendant during the day's work!).

You can run it from a command line, too, so you can do multiple applications, set it up to run on a timer, etc., etc.  It was really nice to fire off a batch file at 5:00 at night before leaving, then come in at 8:00 am and have all the apps compiled.

Sadly, I can't have PowerGen at my current location :(

And, no, I don't have any connection to PowerGen.  Check out their web site, you'll see for yourself...

Cheers,
Ed
