Please very urgent !!!!!!!!!!!!!Lotus Domino Server hangs and crashes when it is started
hi,
I am very new to using Lotus Domino server.we have a Lotus domino server running on a Domino 5.06a with Windows 2000 server we are not able to start the server because it just hangs when we start it and enter the password.and also we are not able to access the lotus/domino/data folder on the server.the system hangs when we do this.
can you please help us out

The question is clear, the server have a problem into the file system ( or damaged hard disk like answer you gwaletee), when Domino start the firts job is read notes.ini (locate at /lotus/domino/) read the enviroment and start jobs in order to check the status of the database (the more important database is names.nsf (all the configuration is locate here, connections, users, mailboxes,etc...)), if the file system is corrupt Domino will crash.
You can make a test in order to check the status of databases ( maybe that filesystem be ok, only one datebase are in bad state):
run from OS the task compact (ncompact.exe if you are using windows )
or run fixup.exe (nfixup.exe if you are using windows).
Remember run this command from the location of your data directory, you will be prompet about the password of the server id and then this tasks will check the status of the databases in the directory where you are.
