Windows 2000 password policy question

I would like to turn on the complex password policy on our windows 2000 server.  Once the policy is changed, what happens when a user with a non-complex password attempts to logon?  Will the system accept their non-complex password until their password expires or will it force them to enter a new password?

Thanks for the help

Hi

It will accept their current non-complex password until it either expires, or you force the change on the user account,
