data recovery from password protected XP harddrive

I have a laptop harddrive that has the admin account password protected..I know the password, but the laptop that the drive belongs in is dead.  I would like to slave the drive to another machine to recover some data, but keep getting the access is denied message.  Is there any way to access this and grab documents off of the drive?
