FP Extensions error logging help

I'm trying to run a simple form to email and textfile page on my intranet but I receive the error - a FP error has occurred: Webmaster check the application log.

The application log doesn't have any information about whats going on.  Im running Win2k3 with FP 2002 Extensions.  Note that I've also tried form-email and form-textfile separately with no luck.

How do I set up FP for either better error delivery on the client side or better server error logging?

First check to make sure you have turned off "Show Friendly HTTP error messages" in your browser. This may help in determining the actual error.

Next - just to make sure the server extensions are working correctly -

Open a new page and insert a form with two text boxes and then save the page. View the page in the browser and enter some text in the form and press submit. If the page returns the values in a fp generated confirmation page then all is working fine and we can proceed from there.

Let me know what happens.

Turned off friendly errors in the browser and created a new form - getting the exact same error.  FP claims its writing to the app error log but I'm not finding anything in there...

If you are getting the error from the generic form you created then you have a front page server installation problem. The server extensions are not working correctly so you will need to remove the server extensions and reinstall and then reapply to your site.

I was considering that but the issue is that while I am currently the de facto administrator of this server there are many people hosting content at the moment - what are the chances that removing and reinstalling the extensions will cause major problems?

Can you remove the server extensions from the site that is giving you issues and do not preserve meta content? Then reapply them to the site. Are other sites having server extension issues?
