Hello, I am hoping to find an answer for Office v X  running on OS X 10.3.4 on a G4.
We have never been able to print from any microsoft program, which we have been getting around ok, now whenever I open a microsoft office program, it immediately shuts down. The error reads: An unexpected error has occurred. I uninstalled the programs and re-installed them and I am still having the same problems. I am leaning toward the cache files but cannot find any thing at microsoft or other sites to support this as a fix.

Can someone assist?

I am sorry, had to update this with correct information. It is office v X on a G4.
I have deleted the cache files. Am now running the disk repair. Still hoping for the best and hoping for help.

This sounds suspiciously like a hardware problem.  I would pull out
any third-party RAM from the machine and try it with just Apple
supplied memory.  It will be slow, but if it works, then you probably
have bad RAM.
