Hi,

Im looking to develop a server based application with multiple clients.
I would like to have a multi threaded architecture . I read about behavioural patterns and specificailly one by name Active object pattern by Douglas Schmidt. Im having difficulties understanding and implement these kinds of patterns.

Could u pointme to some links or some source code that servs as a framework for these kinds of multi threaded multi process queue based message based architectures.

Also please advise me on what kind of architecture should I learn towards. Im trying to stay away from off the shelf products. I'd like to implement every thing from scratch and on my own.

The Adaptive Communication Environment (ACE) is Prof. Schmidt's brainchild that does the stuff you are asking about.  It's open source, so you can either use it or just study the code.
