Get a CD or DVD soundtrack in MP3 format

hello all,

Probably a fairly simple question, but I know nothing of the MAC universe, and ask that for a girlfriend of mine, who wants to do on her mac what i do on my PC :)

She wants to be able to acquire (as MP3) the full soundtrack of a video DVD to listen on her MP3 player.

More simple, she also wants to know the simple way to convert a CD to MP3 on MAC.

Final question, how do you burn MP3 to an audio CD (And there is one track too long to fit, how do you split it ?)

If there are good free software, please let me know. If there is even better pay to use software, let me know :)

Cheers;

Fabrice

For acquiring a dvd audio sountrack to mp3, try downloading mac3dec.  It's a free program that can convert from dvd audio directly to mp3.

For splitting a long mp3 file so it can fit on an audio CD, try Xmp3split (also free)

Hope this helps!

That is very easy.  iTunes can rip tune off of a CD in any of 5 different formats, including MP3.
Launch iTunes.  Goto the iTunes->Preferences->Importing preference pane and select
"Import Using: MP3 Encoder"

In iTunes, create a new Playlist, add the songs you wish to burn to the CD to the Playlist.
In iTunes->Preferences->Burning preference pane, select the "Disk Forma: Audio CD" radio button.
Insert a blank CDR, and click the "Burn" icon from the iTunes toolbar.
