ATRAC3 to WAV or MP3 Converter
I am interested in buying a new Hi-MD minidisc recorder, but found out recently that the device will only allow uploading of recorded files in ATRAC3 format. I know that Sony has promised a Wave Converter application sometime in the fall to convert these files to PCM but I was wondering if there is a third-party application out there that will do the work in the meantime.
I have already tried All2WAV recorder and the quality is very poor. Hoping that there is an expert out there who has figured a workaround to this problem.
PS I am not looking for a realtime solution (ie plug the minidisc into the line-in port).

That would only work for converting to, not from ATRAC3 wouldn't it?

There is a freeware program called cdex, that converts wav to mp3, visa versa, extracts audio from cd to mp3 and i think wav as well. I hope that was what you were looking for !!

I agree with DavidBirch2dotcom, equal points split between him and myself. I mean if people are going to ask a question on here and give the question so many points and then decide to to delete it after people going to the effort of helping them, then what is the point?
I can understand if the answers we gave we not related to the question at all or something like that. How ever it would be really good if people tried to research there own questions before they ask any questions ! I mean that is exactly what I do.

There was some effort made to answer the question, but I don't think that it should be required that I give out the points simply for the effort. Neither of the answers given were in any way helpful. You both offered up options that neither of you had even tried. If you had tried them, you would know that they clearly do no work, and the second suggestion had nothing to do with ATRAC3 file formats "I know you said atrac and I have never heard of that before". Why even offer that?
I did research my question (but thanks for implying that I am an idiot). This piece of software just came out last week, so I don't think you can blame me for asking and then answering my own question later on. I was hoping to help other people in my situation.

If I was hired someone to paint my fence, I don't think I would pay them if they tried really hard but couldn't quite do it.

So dont be calling me an idiot ! Anyway generally players like that come with software on a cd that allow you to convert between the formats.
I even got an MP3 player and it comes with a music manager to allow me to convert stuff and upload / download music to the player itself.

I had assumed that you lost the cd or something and didnt have it so I was trying to answer your question blind folded considering.
come to think of it I should of suggested you go to the manufacturer but then again, if you had thought of that then I am sure they would tell you exactly what you need with regards to converting your music formats from mp3 to atrac or w/e and you would of never have asked this question, right ?

I am not trying to be bitchy or getted banned from EE however it is true !
