Can't see win2k client agents from Arcserve 7 build 1100

Arcserve Manager can no longer see some client agents that it used to in the 'source' section of backup manager. The machines are visible from the microsoft section but not as a client agent. The strange thing is that when I 'modify' a previous backup job, I can see the machines in the client agent section

Are you working at the ARCserve server itself or via remote management?
Sometimes remote control problems can cause a problem in the view not being properly updated.
If remote and it is done via a manager installed on another system make sure updates have been installed on each.
Have you tried adding the agents back in or using the auto discovery?
They are available via a right click on client agents.
Also if it has not been done get the updates installed.
esupport.ca.com registeration is needed to download.

using terminal services to connect to arcserve manager

I'll look into the registration...

I believe some additional client agents were recently installed...but the licensing part of it was not yet sorted out -) so I was wondering if that might be causing the symptoms...but the first thing I'll check is if the symptom occurs withour 'remote management'

Check the Event Viewer. If there is a problem with licensing it will show up there in the Application log.
