Backup of AS400 w/o tape drive
Hello,
I have a problem. We have an As400 that needs to be backed up. In the past we have only done this through the use of a tape drive. However, the tape drive we have has failed and it turns out it was not under contract for repair. Is there temporary solution to back up the AS400 without a tape drive (preferably FTP)? I have tried to FTP for backup but I can only get the actual "data" to move over. Maybe there is a way to make the backup destination(Windows 2000 Server) recognize the AS400 file structure?
Thanks!
Sorry if I am unclear im not the DB admin, just a programmer who is afraid of working without a net!

Dave,
Thank You,
Unfortunatly, i won't be able to test this as soon as I wanted to last week. The good news... Turns out i just needed to replace the fan in the tape drive now i have a working tape drive again. But it seems very logical, why didn't I think of that! I'll give it a shot later (I'm sure it will work fine).
Thanks Again!
