Sent Messages are Disappearing in Outlook Express

Here is my problem:
Something strange is happening when I send an email from EMAIL ACCOUNT 1 to EMAIL ACCOUNT 2 (both on my server). For example when I send between:
email@example.com to firstname.lastname@example.org
If I check quickly the inbox of the email@example.com I am able to download the email in Outlook Express. If I wait say 1.5 hour, I am not able to download anything because it tells me that there are no new emails. I see in my sent folder in the firstname.lastname@example.org that the email is registered as sent.
Do you have any possible explanation for this?
I am afraid that people may be reacting to the news items that we are sending them (from the "office" account to the "memos" account) , but their emails simply do not reach us. I called the server and they said that all is OK. The only explanation that they could offer is that the emails may be going to another computer in the LAN and are downloaded from that computer automatically. I checked and this is not the case.
Do you have any idea what could possibly be wrong?
