Acer Scanner Win98 lost and illegal?

I've tried loading the software from MiraScan for my Acer Scanner and receive a lot of "Illegal operation" warnings from my Win98 and ultimately "not found and check connections...etc"   Do I need a new set of drivers and if so which and where?  Thanks.

Which scanner do you have, and which version of the driver are you trying to install?

You may find an updated version of your scanner here:

It's an Acer 620U flatbed USB and the Software is MiraScan Version 304.  It also notifies me that it cannot install the "uninstaller file so I may not be able to uninstall the software."  And Win98 keeps kicking me with an "illegal operation"...thanks again.
Do you have any other problems with your Windows system? Are you running a virus scanner? If so, stop it while you are installing the scanner software.
Is it MiraScan v304, or 403? The version that's on the benq.com site is 403. If this is newer than what you have, download the newer version and give it a try.
It is v304.  My Device Manager has been reporting certain difficulties for a long time.  Under "imaging devices" I've got the Acer Flatbed Scanner 620U(Win98) with a yellow exclamation point, but have also had that yellow exclamation point on "other devices" (keyboard) and "system devices" (direct access controller) forever.  If I bring up the "close program" menu I've three entries for "Rundll32".
I use AdAware, Registry Mechanic and defrag.exe.  I have no virus scanner but have passed TrendMicro's online scan regularly.
I'm running a new motherboard AMD Athlon 1800+ with 512 Ram.  And the machine does bog down processing on occasion for example when I run WinAmp.  Thanks super for the help.
OK, give 403 a try.
Jez a minute.  I just got my cpu back from the dr.  I blew it up trying to install some new chipset drivers on advice from another question I posted here.

Nope scanner no workee.  When I start the scanner it lights up and does not make a complete test trip across the field.  Mebbe it's busted?  Thanks.
Delete/Refund
Delete/refund seems appropriate here but khkremer did put in his personal time though no solution was found as yet.  I do believe my scanner is just quit.  For $50 it prolly isn't worth the trouble to fix.  I really don't care what the resolution is except it would be nice to know that it is settled correctly.  You guys are generous at giving me these free points to trade for real advice that has been very helpful in the past.  A bargain at twice the price...you guys are still princes among a world of thieves.   So let Caesar decide!!!  Thanks KHKremer!
