### Closing the old questions in Hardware ###

Hello experts,

As you had probably noticed, there is an organized effort to get all the abandoned questions closed (abandoned question is a question that has not comments for 22 or more days). This way we move the really answered questions in the PAQs and delete the nonanswered ones. And of course all the experts that had answered questions get their points - although it is not the Primary function of the cleanup, it is something that is also a plus:).

If you are interested in helping, please read this:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs7

If you are still interested, please post here with whatever questions you may have for the process. In case you decode it is not for you - please if you see such recommendation in a question that you had participated in, take your time to object if needed or to post your opinion if you are asked for it.

Thanks in advance to anyone that will decide to help.

If you want to help in another area, check the area for such question, post here specifying the area or send me a mail.

[Video] Oticon Case Study

Open office environments can create the dynamics for innovation, but they also bring some challenges. With over 1,000 employees in an open office, Oticon needed a solution that would preserve the environment while mitigating disruptive background noises.

Watch how they did it.

Yes thats a great deal Annie I did try to explain that I had read the Rules to her and I was not aware of of what I had done at that time.

But i went back and read them like I should have done in the first instance.  I guess that would be a major part of the for administration is to enforce the rules better.  Because most of us probably don't even read them :)

I have answered many questions as I have been asking questions on here and I shall continue to do so, that way I can become more familiar with how EE works.  It's a great system and apart from my little mishap I am still having fun!

Thank you for your kind reply and I will ask you again once I have stayed out of trouble for a bit :)

Yes Annie I understand that,  I really did not think of that concept honestly and I was slightly shall we say under pressure to get things done so I admit my questions were probably leading other members.

Please apologise to her if you can for me as I did not do it on purpose, not with menaingful intent anyway.  I understand the error of my ways and I will have to watch what i ask in the future.  I know it is only her job to enforce the rules and I respect that.  If i was brash with her it was because I did  not like being singled out in public on the EE pages.  But i can live with that in its and chalk it up to experience.

:)

Hi AnnieMod,

AlbertaBeef had asked me in the past to help out, but I was somewhat busy.  Now that I'm coming up on my one-year anniversary of my first post and the half million mark in Hardware, I thought I should mark the occasion by helping clean up this topic area that I love so much.  I know about QuickPost, but what do the expert cleanup people use to make this process easier?

I want to advertise my delight whilst using EE and I imagine I can post reference comment to that effect somewhere.  So the question is where can i do that?

No that does not look like it as that restricts my comments to the channels or so i think.

I just wondered if there was a section where prospective users can click to see customers comments.  Or shall I say customer satisfaction comments :)

Sorry I haven't responded in awhile.  My home pc is messed up & until I get a new system I'm not going to be able to help out much (mine is so old it ain't worth fixin!).  Right now I'm checking email from work which I don't normally do, hence I haven't responded to any emails in a month - talk about pissed family members.

Anyway when I get things up & going again, I'll check back & hopefully be helpful to you again.  Keep up the hard work, but don't forget to take a relaxing break from time to time.

Michael,

No time to slow down.  I gotta work, work, work, work, work... :)  Setting the bar high gives others incentive to rise to meet the challenge.  There are so many abandoned questions, and so little time.

1-15 July 2003 is correct.

The reason I'm getting all those emails is because ericpete, TheLearnedOne and LucF are TOO good at their job - they don't do just a few each day, they shoot in huge chunks, unfortunately all around the same day.  They're making up for years of inactivity, and of course they're doing an excellent job processing it all.  Not really a complaint, but an observation that it's pretty hard to wade through all that email and the new stuff that comes in at the same time.  The upside is that after a few weeks, there will be nothing left to clean.

Yessiree bob, it is a good observation.  If you look at this page:  http://www.geocities.com/ameba_vb/qpost/oqvlist.html, you will see that you are not the first one to have this problem.  Annie has been trying very hard to get me to slow down, and I try to not overload experts, but when an expert participates (like you do) in so many questions across different areas, it is difficult to gauge.

I'm sorry to say that I won't be able to finish my assignment - I'm leaving Experts-Exchange and wish you and the other workers here the best.  I've enjoyed helping in Hardware and will miss coming alongside the ones who show genuine appreciation for solving their problems. You can check my last question in Community Support for the reason I'm going.

Callandor,
Sorry to see another expert bite the dust.  Clearly there may be other issues that have been piling up over time that pushed you over the edge.

Personally, I have a policy never to get involved in flaming, returning flames, and in general I abandon those questions as quickly as I can.  Once I got burned, I quickly learned to stay away from that grief, and I have been happier ever since.

Hi Annie,
just a quick question
If you look at this question
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/Web_Languages/Q_21206560.html

I've given the author instructions on how to allocate points. I haven't  taken part in the thread but thought I would help him/her with this. My question is  - can I post these kinds of instructions as an 'Administrative Comment' or leave them as ordinary 'Comment'

Yeah, you could call it a slap, right Annie :))

I got tired of people accepting my comments as answers, and having to ask someone to reopen the question (it happened a lot).  So, I just forgot about a conversation that I had with Annie, and posted Administrative comments, because they can't be accepted (problem solved).  WRONG!!!  Down came the hammer, and straightened out the problem right quick :)  I won't forget anymore :)

Thanks Annie,
to tell you the truth I really enjoy doing this. I know I can't always sit down every night or so and cleanup but I always try and make a big effort every so often - like last night - finished by areas in Hardware, started my area in Office and kept Word up-to-date. Glad I now have two areas to look after - that I can call my own :)

Let me know when I can start

Ref email - my apologises for that. Is it ok to post an admin post after a ping i.e. I've pinged a question and the author comes back saying that they solved it themselves, can I post an admin comment asking them to post their solution? Or they ask for assistance in closing the question e.g. they don't know how to split the points?

Again Annie I'm really sorry about that post

No Problem. I'm handling
Word
Office
Hardware

at the moment it just a trickle to keep them under control but come mid-july I'll be able to hit them hard. Also at that time if there is anywhere you would like me to go (temperarily) let me know - work in a school and the kids have finished for the summer so I'll have some extra time :)
