MS Outlook 2000 hanging on the same number message.

I run Outlook 2000, but have been forced to Outlook Express due to a problem with a specific number message on my server.  Whenver I try to check my e-mail, Outlook 2K hangs on message #31.  The program freezes, crashes, and has to be re-loaded.  I have tried re-loading the program, I have tried clearing out my mailbox on the server manually, then re-checking my mail.  I have tried re-createing my entire account on the mail server, yet as soon as I have more than 31 new messages, it will freeze on that message no matter where it comes from or when it was sent, and it doesn't matter what the contents on it are.

Any ideas on why it's doing this?

Hi Anjinsan5,

Kind of puzzling here
Are you saying even after clearing all the new emails in the mail server , outlook is still showing there are more than 31 messages when you check email ?

SR..
Also forgot to ask these

a) Have you setup pop3 or imap or is outlook connected to exchange server for connecting to email ?

b) When it hangs , do you see any error message (hexadecimal number) in the send and receive dialog box ?

c) Do you have any anti-virus that might be accessing the email (scanning it for virus) when it downloads

No - what i'm saying is this:

When I clear out my mailbox on the server, Outlook will work.  But let's say I go home Friday night, then I come back in Monday morning - I'll have around 40-60 new messages, and it will hang on #31 of the new messages, even though it's not the same exact message as was causing the problem the previous week, it's the same numerical message.  So as long as I check my mail before i get 31 messages, it's fine.

It's a POP3 server (Eudora WorldMail 2.0)
No error message as it freezes outlook and then crashes the program
and Yes, I do have McAfee VS (I hate it but that's besides the point).

Ok - after reading all this and typing this, I tried disabling HAWK and Outlook scanning from McAfee - now it works fine.
