### Closing the old questions in VB###

Hello experts,

As you had probably noticed, there is an organized effort to get all the abandoned questions closed (abandoned question is a question that has not comments for 22 or more days). This way we move the really answered questions in the PAQs and delete the nonanswered ones. And of course all the experts that had answered questions get their points - although it is not the Primary function of the cleanup, it is something that is also a plus:).

If you are interested in helping, please read this:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs7

If you are still interested, please post here with whatever questions you may have for the process. In case you decode it is not for you - please if you see such recommendation in a question that you had participated in, take your time to object if needed or to post your opinion if you are asked for it.

Thanks in advance to anyone that will decide to help.

If you want to help in another area, check the area for such question, post here specifying the area or send me a mail.

Ok, give me about 50 pss of those abandoned. I can try and if it's easy to me then more later.

Matti
Yes I read it and no questions. Give me a range of 50 questions from Visual Basic I will try.
Also it might be from VB controls or VB databases.
Hi, I have read the link above few times and I would also like to help with cleanup if it's OK...

Darko

Darko
Give me another range
Yes, if I post it today I shuld title due 05-Sep-2004
And tomorrow due 06-Sep-2004

It's not an order, it is a request =)

Matti
Yeah... please assign me a range :)

Darko
I have one question. There are some PAQ worth question which don't belong to this topic area can they be moved, shall I mark them for this or not? Mainly they belong to VB.NET area but are asked in VB.

AnnieMod,

I can help with a small range next week if that is OK, my time is still flakey :)

dragontooth

Annie,

can I get a new range please? :))

Darko
Hi AnnieMod,
I'm available for CV work in VB.  Please provide me a large range (at least 500 questions)  so that I don't have to come back begging for new work too often.  Thanks.

-- Dan
AnnieMod,
I am out of questions.  Please give me a new range.  Thanks.
-- Dan
AnnieMod,
Sorry I haven't responded earlier. I have no spare time aymore so I have to bow out for now. I will return when my spare time is no longer at a premium.

Tommy

Yes, I'll bring both VB and MFC up to date.

Sorry for not seeing this sooner... These email notifs get mixed in with thousands of others that I shuttle into a separate VB notif folder in Outlook.

- Dan
After these are up-to-date, I'll continue to look in on them periodically, but I can't promise to keep them constantly 100% clean.

What I propose is that about once per month -- or when I see that there are over a couple of hundred Qs older than 21 days -- I'll run a ping on them and then do the followup starting four days after that.

I don't think there is much harm in allowing a few old Qs to hang around for a while.  It appears that in VB, we are getting about 200 abandoned Qs per month, so that system should work pretty well.
=--=-=-==--==-=--=
Also, maintenance cleaning on these two TAs is not enough to keep me busy.  Is there another TA you would like me to work?  If so, point me to it and I'll post in the ### cleanup ### Q to get a range.

-- Dan
sorry... I rarely check these VB notifs (I wish there was a better way -- for instance, a thread in the Cleanup TA would not get lost among all of the VB notifs)

OK, I'll do maintenance on
   VB
   MFC
   Assembly
   WinProg
I'll also look in on, and do maintenance on
   VB Controls
   VB Db

I'm not much interested in Netware, but I would be willing to look in on
    Microsoft SQL Server
    MySQL

...as much for the learning experience as for anything else.  I don't know much about MySQL but I assume that some Qs are generic SQL Qs, so I can do at least partial cleaning there.

-- Dan
AnnieMod,
I have been removed as Page Editor (thanks for your support!) and it appears that the CV tools have also been revoked on my account as well.  This happened while I was cleaning up the VB Controls area.  I have done an initial ping on that TA including Qs in Apr 05 and continuing to the end of the list.  These all have been provided more than the 4-day waiting period and a final pass needs to be done there.

I'd be willing to continue CVing these -- without posting Admin comments -- but I do not know my status.  Please enlighten me.

It has been a while since I was a CV here and active in the site, but I would be interested in helping once again in that capacity, if I may offer my services for a while here...

no refund conditions - check
no award conditions - check

I'll see what I can get started in these ranges later tonight, and will (probably) as kfor more before I run out.

Thanks
:)
I didn't check to see how many questions would be in those ranges before I commented.  I just meant that rather than finishing them all then saying "done now, may I have another", I'd likely say "I'll be done my ranges before tomorrow, may I have another assigned" as I get close to the end but while I still have some to do in case you take a day off.  I also didn't know if you'd only assign out blocks of 50 or so questions, so I responded before I researched.

Thanks for the show of confidence by giving me a healthy dose of questions.

I'll assume that the months are inclusive -- start of Jan to end of April type of thing

Poker night cancelled this week, so I was able to get more done than I had anticipated having time this week for.

I'll probably finish up my blocks end of tonight - most have recommendations, but I have a healthy dose of ones I'm letting sit for a few days before returning to.

If possible, please give me another batch that I can get started on, then I'll bounce between making new headway and following through on these awaiting some input over the next few days.

Will do
So Annie, need a hand here?
Ok, will stat on it tonight.

Leon
Thanks for covering my pings there Leon - sidetracked in the most strongest of ways...

Annie:

Vacation times are past now, we've got all the dominoes lined up on the house purchase, got 75% of our things packed already, and long work days should be few and far between for a while now.   I would like to try to take a few small bites every couple days for the next couple weeks before its time to pack up the computer and move, so if you could assign me a range without depriving Leon of too many, but not expect too much out of me at this time still, that would be nice.

Hi Annie, Leon and Gerry - old pal, how's it been going??

I'd like to get back into action if I could (maybe in VB Controls?) with a small range if possible?

Between the three of us, we can make quick work and bring it up to date.

Thanks =)
We know you haven't forgotten us Annie...
Lets try this again, I guess...

Since the range left here before for me is still wide open, I'll just dive in there.
