latest kernel files and how to use them!!!

Hi guys
         I need to update my redhat's kernel. Its currently running 2.4. From where can I get the latest kernel files, can somebody gimme some URL and secondly I m new to Linux, so plz guide me on how to use those updates n update the kernel. Its been like 2 months I started using linux but not on a daily basis.
