Concurrent users for an ASP.NET application

Hello All

I have a small web application in asp.net with SQL DB. The application consists of a couple of forms. The application will be accessed by around 4000 users concurrently and will be keying in data. The fields are around 10 to 12. Could you please let me know, if ASP.NET, IIS 6.0 & SQL 2000 support such a huge load and transactions?

Also let me know, what should be the ideal hardware configuration for hosting such a web application, the precautions that needs to be taken in deploying the application. Is Windows 2003 Datacenter edition the right server OS to cater such requests?

Please do help me out in this regard.

Thanks & Regards

the number of users that you are specifying should not be a problem fro SQL Server - that is where the contention issue will arise.  IIS and ASP.NET are NOT constrained by the number of simultaneous users.  YOu may want to be sure that the Server which is hosting the web site, and the server which hosting the Database are both as fast as possible, and have sufficient RAM (minimum should be 512 Mb, for both (1 Gb would be better), and as fast a processor as possible)

4000 simultaneous users is NOt considered a 'huge' load - many web sites support 100's of thousands of 'simultaneous' users.
