We upgraded our exchange server from 5.5 to 2003 in May. I just upgraded one of our users from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2002(XP). We have some 2000 and some 2002 Outlook users in the environment. Everyone else is running with no problem. The user I upgraded gets the error "Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'The operation failed. An object could not be found.'". I have seen the other postings on this site regarding this error, but they all seem to apply to a problem with the Exchange server and I cannot understand why this would only happen to one user if that were the case. Any suggestions would be helpful. Is this possibly some kind of permissions issue?

Hi jwstock,

Looks like that error because of synchronization issue with address book. Does that specific user got the same setup as others who are connected to exchange server  .

Is it like all users except one user who has been upgraded to outlook 2002 has got this issue ?

What task in outlook is giving this error and all other users have done the same task ?

Check the address book. Try backing up and recreating  it to see if that would help

The user setup is the same. I do have other users on 2002. The error occurs when performing a send and receive. I did a recreate on the offline address book on the exchange server and that did not help.

Apparently the offline address book re-creation takes awhile. The error has stopped.
