Back up database to a network drive in sybase central

I am trying to back up my database ( I am using sybase central) using ISQL analyzer , I am not able to back up to a network drive, I have no problem if i back up to the local drive. It is showing this error
ASA Error-697:Error during back up : could not create directory R:\Backup\Friday--No such directory or permission denied.
I am trying to do this from the dba account with full permisiions. Can you help me ?
the event handler has this code

Error message: could not create directory R:\Backup\Friday--No such directory or permission denied

means that either the drive R: is not mapped on database server machine, or user sybase (or user that was used to start database server engine) has no rights on R:\Backup\, or (most probably) you have both these problems.

You can try to use full network path (like \\computername\Backup\) instead of mapped drive letter - this should address the first problem. But even with this you can still have problem with permissions, particularly if you run your database server as Windows service under System Account. I'm not sure about permissions of System Account - try to allow full access to destination computer for everyone. If it will not help, try to use other account to start the database server service.
