Dear Experts

I had forgotten my dialup password the other day and downloaded a password viewer. The strange thing was that it would only unmask textbox's with a normal password character - say a '*' and not the text box with the special XP character. So anyway I downloaded a program called SuperPasswordSpy++ (http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/I-N/ieprogram/security/article.php/c4387). Which was able to view my password for me. The next day I then tried making a simple delphi program to view the password behind these XP/2K characters and wasn't able to.

The website http://www.codeguru.com/Cpp/I-N/ieprogram/security/article.php/c4387 has the source code to view these characters in C++, but that don't mean a thing to me. I get confused too easily :*(

Does anyone know how to view whats behind these 2K/XP password charactors in delphi?

Thanks, your help is much appreciated

let's see....
you can use a mouseup event to drag from a form to the pwdchar field....

for example, click on a form, drag to the masked textbox field and release the mouse button....

it's working for me on W2K and XP

procedure TForm1.FormMouseUp(Sender: TObject; Button: TMouseButton;
  Shift: TShiftState; X, Y: Integer);
var
  mypoint: TPoint;
  myHandle: THandle;
begin
  GetCursorPos(myPOINT);
  Sleep(100);
  myhandle := WindowFromPoint(myPOINT);
  PostMessage(myhandle,EM_SETPASSWORDCHAR,0,0);
  PostMessage(myhandle,WM_LBUTTONDOWN,0,0);
  PostMessage(myhandle,WM_LBUTTONUP,0,0);
end;
