ibm as400 and DB2

Hi!

I know IBM AS/400 is a midrange server from IBM... now a part of the iSeries. Does it have its own databse or the databse on AS/400 is a DB2 database?

AS/400 doesn't include a database (though it could be part of the same purchase contract). The best database for that system would be DB2.

just to clarify,  ..... is as/400 a server which runs the os OS/400 and other services like DB2 databse? so AS/400 is a platform.. hardware?
