I am using windows 2000 and i have a HP 845 deskjet printer on USB port. The problem is that from last 8-10 days whenever i give print command in any windows application(pagemaker, word) the printer responds after about 5 minutes.

Also when i start windows i get one message box of "Service Control Manager" that gives message "Atleast one service or driver failed during system startup. Use event viewer to examine the event log. But this also came previously and did not affected my printer so you may ignore this.

shailesh_akola,

Sometimes with printers the quickest solution is to uninstall the printer and reinstall it. Go into your control panel to the Add/remove programs.  Remove your HP software that is installed for that printer.  Then go to the printers windows and right click the existing printer.  Remove the printer.  You will then want to disconnect the USB cable.  Reboot the computer.  Then follow the instructions for installing your printer that would have came with your printer.  Usually with USB printers you have to install the software first and then connect the USB cable.  You might also try downloading the latest printer driver for that printer.  Go to www.hp.com.  I hope this is helpful.
