Advantages of Static Module vs. Dynamic Module

Hello.

What recommendations do you have with regard to installing
static vs. dynamic? I was reading on the Apache site that DSO runs
slower; I couldn't understand what the benefits are...can anyone explain
it to me in plain English?

I run all my apache-webservers with DSO-support and there is no big performance-penalty using DSO instead of fixed compiled version. But you gain a lot of advantages using DSO. You don't need to recompile apache if you need to change/upgrade the php-version and other apache-modules can also be easiely integrated.
