user access control  on tomcat

Hi dear experts,
I have an intranet web site develeoped with jsp.  I want my local users ( i mean the users connected to LAN) to access to my intranet but when  other people from outside (WAN) try to access my intranet web site  i want to show them username&password page  before they access to  intranet.  I am usign tomcat 5.0.19  on redhat linux.
How can i do this ?

The directory admin in server.xml and web.xml there shud be  an example written .
also look into the following
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-4.1-doc/realm-howto.html
