I am working on a network with win2k machines and winxp machines. Recently the server had to be replaced. After I set up the new server which is Samba. I am able to join all except one winxp machine. This pc will not let me disjoin it from the old domain which does not exist anymore. How can I work around this?

login as local admin and change it to workgroup...make up a name and it should let you disjoin if it doesn't then what error are you receiving?

My only guess would be to try re-installing the service pack on that computer.  There doesn't appear to be much info about the error on the web or MS site.  I would say do some updates and the service pack and if it doesn't work then just rebuild....not sure why this happens i've never seen this before.
