How does talkway.com do this.. is this java ??

Hi ,

I recently stumbled upon a site called talkway.com, which somehow installed a win32 executable
right from their web page.

Here is the link; ( they need your email :-0 ) ,

http://www.talkway.com/shop/eval.htm

do they achieve this with java ? if so, where can i get information about this
remote installation technology...

I know its an outlook plugin,, I'm talking about
the java applet the downloads and launches the win32 installer...

how does java, launch an exe , as it does
at this site..

Do you grant permissions to the applet when it loads.

I do, however it asks me after it downloads, the progress
bar appears, downloads, then launches. ( from memory )

Once you've given permission to the applet it's free to do whatever it want.
Sounds like what it then does is download a cab and install it.

I know, and I agree.

However, the progress bar appears, and the 'cab' downloads before it
asks me if i want to or not... It only asks once this process is complete
'if i want to launch''  how do they force the download/progress bar
just like that..  ( my security is set to medium )

Theres no restriction on things being downloaded, its only to execute something that your permission is needed.
